And if that’s not cause for celebration, I don’t know what is.
What a time to be alive!

It’s hard to imagineThe Devil Wears Pradawithout its marvelous star, Meryl Streep.
“There was my goodbye moment.
And then they doubled the offer.
I was 55.”
She’d never negotiated a salary before.
You go, girl.
When director David Frankel landed thePradajob, he was at odds.
The script he’d seen felt “undirectable"too satirical and lacking in nuance.
“Miranda was a witch, and Andys motivation was to get her revenge,” he said.
“There was a lot of conflict that ended with Miranda being humiliated.
I felt that wasnt satisfying.
My view was that we should be grateful for excellence.
Why do the excellent people have to be nice?”
He went through three more drafts before landing on a script he was willing to push forward.
Stanley Tucci was cast to play the ever-phenomenal Nigel just three days before he showed up to set.
“But he is not funny.
That, I stole from Mike Nichols.
Because everyone laughs, even the target.”
Miranda’s walk is all Streep’s, though.
You know the one.
The one that made every viewer more thoroughly appreciate the fashion industry than ever before.
Yeah, that one.
And man, am I thankful she did.
That montage of Miranda tossing her fur coat onto Andy’s desk?
Yeah, that took at least 30 takes.
Those fur coats werewayheavier than they looked, apparently, and Streep struggled with the choreography of it.
“It was a hard day for Meryl,” co-star Emily Blunt said.
That was one of the funniest things Id ever seen.”
Speaking of Emily Blunt, her character, Emily, wasn’t intended to be British.
She’d been auditioning for a different film role at the time.
Tucci and Blunt went from co-stars to family in pretty much no time.
Tucci attended Blunt’s wedding to fellow actor John Krasinski and met Blunt’s sister, Felicity.
The two began dating and got married in 2012making Tucci Blunt’s brother-in-law.
Don’t get your hopes up for a sequel.
Streep has said she’s not interested in pursuing a sequel, and Hathaway offered a similar remark.
“Should there be?”
“Id love to make a movie with all the people again thats something totally different.
But I think that one might have just hit the right note.
Its good to leave it as it is.”
And ICYMI: Fox wanted a bigger name, like Rachel McAdams, to play Hathaway’s role.
