Starting to lift weights is hard, but you cant beat the weeks that come after it.

The movements can definitely feel awkward at first.

Get a good pair of shoes.

And target them to your intended activity.

Learn how to use your gyms equipment.

Even the intimidating stuff.

Adjust the machines, switch out attachments, whatever is calling to you.

That sports bra and shorts set youve been eyeing?

And wear it proudlybelieve me, it looks great on you!

Sometimes boring is better.

Give your entire body some love.

Despite what you might see on social, a solid strength training plan involves more than justbutt exercises.

Dipping your toe in other modalitiessay,cardio for your heartoryoga for mobilitycan only help too.

Youll thank yourself once you hit your 30s (and beyond).

You probably need to take a longer breather between sets.

One of the biggest fallacies in fitness is equating sweat with asuccessful workout.

So resist the urge to go right from one exercise to the other.

Instead, after each set, give yourself time to breathe and let your heart rate come down.

And you dont need to pack your workout with quite so many exercises either.

I used to cram a boatload of exercises into my routine, making for longand not terribly effectiveworkouts.

So pick four or five exercises, go hard on them, and call it a day.

Youre not going to feel jazzed about every single workout.

It doesnt mean fitness isnt for you if you dont jump into every workout with boundless enthusiasm.

No one feelsmotivatedevery time.

Chasing a smaller body can have legit repercussions down the line.

A lot of what you see on fit-fluencer social feeds is smoke and mirrors.

You cant compare your results totheirresults.

But you dont really knowand willneverreally knowif a fit-fluencer is truly doing the things they show themselves doing.

The workout plan theyre hocking probably isnt solely responsible for them looking or performing the way they do.

Nurture your non-gym hobbies just as much.

Etch out time and space in your life for the non-physical things that give you joy too.

Believe me, youll appreciate having some otherhobbies to turn tothen.

You really need a rest day (or two).

If you havetrouble resting, I get it.

The best performance supplement is sleep.

But good food isnt far behind.

You need toeat after working out, full stop.

Stop taking it so seriously.

Unless youre a pro athlete, working out is a hobby.

You dont need to enter the gym with a game face on.

Try saying hello to the other folks thereitll take some of that self-induced pressure off.

Itll all be worth it.

Like everything else, these thoughts tend to fade with time.
