Its beginning to look a lot like…the last days of 2019!

And as a special bonus this year, we also get end-of-the-decadeangst.

Super fun, super festive.

If youre on social media, you know what were talking about.

What if, instead of being bummed about what you havent accomplished, you just said, Fuck it?

May their stories inspire you more than those social media posts do.

I have quite a few goals that arent going to be realized in 2019.

Instead I spent the majority of my emotional bandwidth this year putting out fires.

Theholiday seasonadds enough pressure, and navigating through the season without completely losing yourself is a huge accomplishment.

So Im proud of everyone who wakes up every day and decides to just get through that day.

Did you get out of bed today?

Did you take a shower and brush your teeth?

Did you do something on your to-do list?

Pat yourself on the back.

But Im glad you did!)

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with making your end-of-year goal something that isnt social media worthy.

The most radical thing we can do is establish our own standards and barometers forsuccess.

Its honestly okay to feel burned-outrather than energizedat this point in the year.

At the beginning of the year, I was excited.

Then it felt like a chore.

Now Im exhaustednot just by this goal, but Ive had my own year filled with personal milestones.

Im exhausted in general.

So it might sound crass, but I couldnt really care less about sending acelebratory gift.

In reality I just dont have the energy.

Not hitting one specific goal shouldnt negate all the other amazing things youdidaccomplish along the way.

I wanted to lose weight, but here I am, still thick!

Those new routines have stuck, but the weight has stuck around too.

Youll have 365 more days to accomplish whatever the hell you want to conquer.

Its perfectly okay to reassess your goals rather than rush to accomplish them by some arbitrary date and time.

A few months ago I realized I may have bitten off more than I could chew.

Once I was able to let go of the pressure I put on myself, it felt incredibly liberating.

Its important to honor your own pace instead of comparing your progress to someone elses.

My goal for this year was to work out andmeditatemore.

I started the year strong, and then my routine gradually fell apart.

Im in my first year of graduate school, and the workload killed all motivation.

I studied hard and passed the first semester, so it balances out.

But Ive made a ton of progress, and I am all about going at my own pace.

It feels really good to say, Its just not going to get done this year.

At the start of the year I was super excited, and that continued throughout the year.

I was super motivated at times, and not so motivated at other times.

Somewhere along the line I realized these projects are going to take a while, and thats perfectly fine.

I have other obligations, a job, and an entirefamily.

So it feels terrific to say, Its not going to get done this year.

There are only so many hours in the day.

Theres always next year.
