If blue light glasses arent your thing, you still have another option.

Ditch the harsh overhead lighting.

One helpful adjustment you’re able to make in your home is to ditch bright overhead lights.

So what lights should you choose?

Look away from your screen every once in a while.

Periodic breaks from all these screens give your eyes time to rest.

Dr. Estemalik suggests taking about five minutes away from your rig or phone every 45 minutes or so.

Just stand up and walk and maybe do other things.

Cut back on your overall screen time.

Continuous screen time can exacerbate migraine discomfort or even trigger a migraine attack, Dr. Estemalik says.

Most people obviously cant ditch screens 100% of the time or anywhere close to that.

Be open with your manager or HR team about your needs.

Many employers are eager for their employees to succeed and will be happy to help.

But unfortunately, that isnt always the case.

Reasonable accommodations are modifications or adjustments to a job, work environment, or hiring process.

That can actually go a long way, Dr. Buse says.

Be aware of your other triggers.

When possible, its helpful to practice healthy lifestyle habits for raise your migraine attack threshold.

But noticing any patterns that exist can be helpful in navigating life with migraine, Dr. Buse says.

Dont be afraid to take medication when you need it.

Many people with migraine who are sensitive to light end up getting migraines at work.

Rescue medications are meant to work quickly to reduce or alleviate pain and symptoms like light sensitivity.
