It’s a sad but rarely discussed fact of life:Miscarriageshappen.
But they can actually happen up until 20 weeks.
After that point, it’s known to doctors as a “fetal demise.”

While women often worry that they did something to cause a miscarriage, experts say this is rarely true.
“Miscarriages usually happen because something was wrong from the beginning,” says Herta.
Of course, it’s still not easy to cope with a miscarriage, regardless of why it occurred.
“Many women don’t talk about their miscarriages because it is upsetting and sad,” he says.

I flew back to New York to get my check upand no heartbeat.
“My miscarriage was so sudden, so unexpected.
I had been in to my doctor’s office for a perfect, normal ultrasound just the day before.
Then, our baby passed away inside me what must have been only a few hours later.
The entire experience was traumatizing.”
She spoke about her experience withThe Sun on Sundayin 2014.
“It was horrendous and something I would not wish on my worst enemy,” she said.
But I was numb and I didn’t care.
I’d just lost my baby and that is a reflection of how numb I was."
Allen said she has “dealt with it, you know as being at one with it.
But it’s not something you get over.”

The journalist revealed in 2010 that she had suffered a miscarriage at seven weeks pregnant.
“We actually [hadn’t] been trying that long,” she added.
Ling ended up starting the websiteSecretSocietyofWomen.comso that other women could share their stories.
“I was just really nervous, and I have had a miscarriage before,” she said.
I’d probably just stare, happy just to be there, holding your face."

“My children ask me to have a baby all the time,” she said.
“And you never know, I could squeeze one more in.
I am missing my third.
I’m thinking about it.
But I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third.
It didn’t work out, and I nearly died.
“My heart was so full and then it broke.
I had lost my baby girl.
It was too much.
I didn’t need to learn this lesson.
I wasn’t interested,” she says.
