SELF: Obviously, the past year was full of some huge changes for a lot of people.
Courtesy of Adidas.
What have those changes felt like for you?
Have you learned anything new about yourself?
Ally Love:Its been a roller-coaster.
It also has put me in a position to do the work of self-awareness.
There are many times that Ive had to get quiet, that Ive had to introduce meditation.
Why do I think these things?
Not in a condemning way, but in a one-on-one conversation with myself.
I know how to show up and be myself and be present.
What has helped you rest, recharge, and get through the last year?
Any new habits or tips?
I pop in my AirPods and I listen to books that inspire me to open up and stay curious.
Second, I didnt know how importantthe setup of my spacewas.
I have a sense of groundedness.
But the new space in our bedroom I feel inspired, I feel like my identity is here.
Symmetry has been very helpful.
Paintings on both walls with a circle, the pillows are all symmetrical.
Finding symmetry has been just[sighs]grounding.
You have such wonderful energy in all of your classes.
What’s givingyouinspiration these days?
We know that energy and bandwidth are limited.
And there are moments where your family will take a backseat because your career has to take priority.
Right now at this moment what Im very adamant about is the community.
Im not just a leader of the community, but Im a part of the community.
Im a member who gets on the tread.
Im a home rider, I get on the bike.
That sincerely fuels me.
The obligation is a gift in a sense.
I dont take that lightly, and I dont take my social responsibility lightly.
As much as I put in, it gives right back.
Thats what fuels me, gives me energy, and gives me hope.
I know that gratitude is something you talk about a lot.
What advice do you have for people who are interesting in starting a gratitude practice?
It is definitely a priority for me, but it does not come easily for me.
I can take things for granted, I can move too fast and forget.
I remember a fun story that I often thought about and have never shared.
Goodnight, TV, thank you.
Goodnight, clock, thank you.
She did not make him do this!
So when I think of the short, simple power of gratitude, I think of that.
