Theres a saying:Comparison is the thief of joy.

Inmy fitness business, this couldnt be more true.

Two of the most common behaviors I see women engaging in are comparison and the pursuit of perfectionism.

In fact, they end up creating more negative than positive results in almost every case Ive seen.

The thief of joy is at play in a big way.

Its simply not an accurate depiction of the human form.

Comparison comes at a great cost, robbing us of the joy and victory we deserve.

But it can be hard to break the habit when weve grown so accustomed to doing it.

The truth is social media is almost always the highlight reel of a persons life.

We typically post the most joyful moments while were looking our best.

Posts have been filtered, angled, and altered to look great.

These posts leave out all the difficulty and real life components that are behind the joyful moments.

We dont know everyones path.

They may have been doing the internal work on anti-perfectionism or buildingself-acceptanceand self-esteem for years.

The problem was I struggled greatly to achieve this and I was always unhappy with how I looked.

This comparison stole my happiness for years.

These are my genetics.

And thats absolutely fine.

My advice: Dont battle your genetics.

Stop comparing yourself to others andembrace the body you have.

We are fulfilled and have a strong sense of self.

Our pursuit to be like others ends.

When you feel yourself comparing, remember in that moment that the thief of joy is at play.

I see this all the time.

While it is OK to have inspiration from others, comparison is a bandit thats not on your side.

Dont let comparison win.

Life isnt perfect and we must roll with the punches and keep showing up for ourselves.

Your goals and dreams are so worth it and with perseverance and focus youwillreach them.

Remember: Its about progress, not perfection.
