And on a personal note, my aunt is a survivor.
Her cancer diagnosis didnt affect me physically, but it affected my emotions and our familyit made us stronger.
SELF: Whats your advice for providing that support?

LC:“There are a number of different ways it’s possible for you to go.
Be a good source of emotional support.
That can be hard to cultivate alone.

Do things to bring that person joy.Cook meals.
Be emotionally strong for that person.”
SELF: You lead a healthy lifestyle.
From your perspective, how do health and wellness come in to play with breast cancer awareness?
What I love about this campaign is the strength in numbers and using the hashtag #BCAstrength.
Whether its a disease or a death in the familywere all going to have that hurdle eventually.
SELF: What do you have to say to young women who dont think breast cancer can affect them?
LC:“My friend who was recently diagnosed is my age32.
So we need to be talking about this as much as we can.
Giving people the tools and resources to know, encouragingself-exams, educationthats important.
Its this idea of coming together.
Were lucky that everybody has a voice now on Facebook and Twitter, and were so connected.
That was her way of putting something out there.
The more we have the conversation, the easier the conversation becomes.”
