We’ve been listening toB.o.B’s duet withParamore’s Hayley Williamsall week.
SELFy Stars: Tell us how this collaboration with B.o.B came about.
I never thought it would happen!
What do you think about it, would you want to sing on it?"
The guys were like, you’re crazy, if you don’t do that, you’re crazy.
So I called back and was like, “Just tell me when.”
I’ve been waiting for so long for people to hear it because I love the song so much.
SS: You also worked with Eminem on another version of the song.
What’s your dream musical collaboration?
HW: I think Eminem IS the dream collaboration!
Eminem is one of the first rap artists I loved.
I loved Dr. Dre and thought Eminem was the coolest.
I got an email saying that they had sent it to him to work on.
HW: I haven’t really planned anything but I definitely won’t say I won’t, ever.
It was so much fun, I got to play a lot of instruments and learn a lot.
Being on my own in a studio is really, really different than making music with the band.
I can’t say I necessarily enjoy it more, but it was just a new experience for me.
But I loved recording that, and I was so stoked Paramore fans liked it.
That made it more enjoyable for me.
SS: You’re about to hit the road to promote your third album, brand new eyes.
Do you think this tour will be different from your previous tours?
HW: It’s one of the shortest tours that we’ve ever done.
I hope that kids can see us grow every time they watch us play.
Fans have responded, they’ve been really stoked every time we play new songs.
And that’s a good feeling because you want kids to like what you do.
Every time you do something new, you want them to like it better than the last time.
SS: What’s it like sharing a bus with a bunch of guys?
HW: It’s definitely better than sharing it with four other girls!
It’s pretty low maintenance for the most part.
And they have to deal with how messy I am, so I feel kind of sorry for them.
SS: How do you stay healthy on the road?
I stay away from dairy and I drink almond milk now.
I drink a lot of herbal tea and add Manuka Honey, I think it’s from New Zealand.
It’s actually antibacterial–it tastes terrible by itself but it’s actually amazing in tea.
And so I add little things like that to my diet.
Oh yeah, I don’t eat a lot of candy on tour.
When I get home, man, I love candy.
Oh, man, and ice cream.
I can’t eat it on tour because of the sugar and my throat.
I tend to be really, really strict.
SS: And how do you stay in shape?
You’re not going to collapse on stage.
And I actually really like that motivation.
I don’t necessarily drop weight, but I feel like I look better on tour.
It’s like an hour and 15 minutes of nonstop, crazy cardio.
And I love it, it feels amazing.
I’m ordering the Insanity Workout, I’m really stoked about it.
You’ve heard of P90X right?
It’s the same people, but it’s way more cardio.
Because I’m not really interested in being buff.
That’s what Insanity is.
And we’re just going to have a big workout hang session every morning if we can.
