Taking care of yourself, physically and emotionally, is impossible without genuine downtime.
(And were taking our own advice: The SELF staff will be OOO during this time!)
The year 2024 has been anything but restful for Ilana Glazer.
With her career milestones stacking up, Glazer is actually focused on slowing things downat least behind the scenes.
Right now, she says, Im trying to pivot into cozy.
Wondering how a touring comic and toddler parent can keep up that level of hype?
According to Glazer, its all about her bedtime routine.
I needed that lesson.
And now Im like, What a treat.
Were just like lions in a den.
When were home, whenever we can, my husband and I do her bedtime together.
And its really best if I can have that continuum from putting her down to putting myself down.
I love doing my skin care.
I want to drink it!
The last thing I do is use myNuFace microcurrent at-home facial tool, then mySolawave red light stick.
I call this practice stacking it up.
Because none of these thoughts are necessary for sleep.
Im focusing on turning the light off inside my mind.
This habit started on the road when I was touring the material for this special.
Like, Okay, so Im nervous, and that makes sense.
And Im in South Carolina…. Im not normally in South Carolina, so thats weird.
And I miss my baby, and I miss my man.
And thats all part of these feelings.
If my mind is still cluttered after all that, Ill journal.
And it really worked for me.
And if we start, we gotta do this thingwe have to finish.
And it is always worth it.
Its a really helpful thing to have sex before sleep, actually.
These days, Im sleeping well.
I am slowing things down earlier and trying to get my work done during the day.
I think that early darkness is a sign to us that its just time to go to bed.
