Lana Condor, SELFs February cover star, is famous for being relatable.

For example: Condorhates burpees.

I don’t necessarily enjoy all the up-and-down movementand the jumping… She pauses.

Lana Condor shares her fitness routine

It’s like, push-ups are hard enough.

Why do you have to add a jump?

That just feels, to me, like a whole other level.

Condor says she stopped working out completely when theCOVID-19 pandemicbegan.

Once a few months passed, however, her approach to wellness and fitness while in quarantine changed.

Because there’s so much uncertainty outside.

I want to be able to feel a little bit of stability.

The notion of using exercise to gain control is a slippery slope.

I have to really, really, really tell myself that I am beautiful and my talent is valid.

In this industry, there’s this sense of…

I stay ready so I don’t have to get ready, she says.

There are ups and downs every single day, she says.

One day you wake up and the sun is shining and everything feels great.

And there’s so much uncertainty.

Condor lives in Seattle with her boyfriend, Anthony De La Torre, where they created a home gym.

My mental health is the priority, and my mental health is always better when I am active.

And so he’s very patient.

Condor says she often jumps rope between sets to keep her heart rate up.

Plus, its just plain old convenient.

I don’t have space to put a treadmill, she says.

Another staple in her HIIT circuits is plenty of weightedsquatsandlunges.

The circuits can be tough, she says.

But it’s worth it, because now I have a booty.

I hate it, but it’s very effective, Condor says.

It always makes me feel a lot better when it’s finished.

However, the couple has had to lay some ground rules around gym time.

So I’m not allowed to cheer him on, but he could cheer me on.

So I feel like I can really hit it hard.

It’s showing up and consistency and doing things that bring you joy.

Having Anthony be there with me and Paolo is really funnyit makes it a joyful experience.

Just to get your body movingto be happyis what I really want to focus on.
