How manyburpeesdo you think you could do in one hour?

They are one of those exercises that people love to hate, she tells SELF.

People also, in turns out, love to debate exactly what defines a burpee in the first place.

Im no expert but arent you supposed to stand completely upright as part of a burpee?

Looks half-assed to me, one person wrote.

They arent even close to real burpees, said another.

Others shared GIFs demoing what they considered to be admissible burpee form.

The decision was made to meet the standard rather than break the standard, she explains.

The move probably looks easy, says Llorente.

But it took work to make it look that way.

From there, she and her coach fine-tuned the sessions so that each served a specific purpose.

Here’s what her training looked like:

The first weekly session focused on speed.

The second weekly session focused on consistency.

The goal of these sessions, says Llorente, was picking a pace where I could stay consistent.

The third weekly session, AKA the big session, focused on endurance.

Its similar to how long-distance runners dont launch the race distance until race day itself, she explains.

I didnt want to have a predetermined idea in my head about the 60 minutes.

For the three days before the competition, she rested entirely, focusing solely on mindfulness and stretching.

Her goal: 1,430 burpees.

Come competition day, close to 100 peopleincluding family, friends, and clientsgathered to watch Llorentes attempt.

But mostly, Llorente says, she thought about not stopping and just breathing a lot.

My cardio fitness at the moment is pretty good, says Llorente.

As for the world record, its still unofficial.

Llorente needs to send documentation to Guinness and it needs to be verified, she toldThe Washington Post.

Would she some day consider an attempt to best her record?

Ill never say never.
