How you win in Olympic skiing depends on the ski discipline.

Incross-country skiing, the goal is to cross the finish line with the fastest time.
The format is slightly different for each discipline.
The cross-country sprint event is only about 1.2K, and groups of six race on a closed-loop course.
The sprint is contested tournament style, as athletes with the fastest times advance to the next round.
Ski jumping is a scored event based on distance jumped and style points earned.
There are also adjustments made forgate and wind compensation.
