It was everything I ever thought ahoneymoonwould be.

Well, I am here to tell you that for me it was annoyingly true.

But most of it was emotional.

Didnt I want to get some other relationship experience under my belt, he wanted to know?

I dont ever want to lose that independence, or that strength of spirit.

Thats why taking a solomoon was so important to meespecially in Costa Rica.

That month to me was peak Single Annie, a time when I made decisions purely for one.

I could take all the time I wanted to take this not-all-that-great photo of a coconut.

A solo trip helps you remember who you are and solidify your values, she told me.

My solomoon was certainly a trip down Memory Lane.

My hotel,Vista Celestial, was high in the jungle, and it overlooked the Pacific Ocean.

And they feel incredible.

(Note, this will definitelynotbe my last solo tripI’m a travel writer!

This is my job!but a solomoon is a different, once in lifetime personal journey.)

Now, would I have had such a great time if Rahul had been there?

I absolutely love traveling with him.

Its a huge part of who we are as a couple.

But that misses the point.

Did I have to fly to another country to do this?

One week after I got home from my solomoon, my friends threw me an amazing bachelorette party.

But my solomoon was different.

It was a toast to myself, from myself, and for my future self.
