So, the idea of no longer having hair under thereand notshavingin the shower every daywas pretty exciting.
Obviously, I was more than willing to say goodbye to my relationship with the tedious, labor-intensive razor.
And what about those at-home devices that are so popular?

So to be totally safe, I made an appointment with a professional.
The intense heat from the laser damages the hair follicle, preventing future hair from growing.
Thats why one of the first things I asked Engelman was how bad this was going to hurt.

Not bad at all, she assured me.
I also asked if there was anything I should do before the appointment.
She said it was perfectly fine to shave and treat my underarms normally.
While I was waiting, I examined the laser beam.
It was about four-feet high and two-feet wide.
Once Engelman came in, she explained exactly what was going to go down.
And so we began.
Engelman lifted my right underarm and placed the black tube on the surface.
She repeated the procedure and in just around 30 seconds I was completely done.

Thats it?
The newer lasers dont hurt as bad.
That was great news, because I definitely scared myself into thinking that I would be in pain.
The part I least enjoyed was seeing my sizzling underarm hair.
It smelled and looked like burnt hairkind of gross and not a great beach look.
A few days later I barely saw any progress.
My first thought was that this was going to involve quite a few laser sessions to see results.
It would be a pain to have to continually go back to the doctors office once every six weeks.
But about a week later, I was pleased to see that I hardly had any underarm hair.
I couldnt believe it.
A whole week had gone by, and I had only shaved once.
Plus, the hair that was left wasnt as coarse as before.
You responded really well to the laser!
I was confused, but waited it out a full week.
I still plan to see Engelman for one final session.
It will only be my third, and she thinks it might be my last.
Think of all the money you won’t be spending on razors and blade refills.
In fact, Engelman told me she hasnt shaved her underarms since 2007!
