But we’re not all that pumped about the extra calories.

So we decided to test-drive a SELF-approved Memorial Day meal.

You better believe it!

With New York being so rainy lately, we were excited to get in a grilling mindset this week!

Plus, they’ve got parmesan cheese (asuperfood!)

and capers, which help to prevent the formation ofcarcinogensthat can occur when meat gets charred.

Prep was a cinch–we combined the ingredients in a large bowl, mashing meat and seasonings together.

Pro tip: forget utensils and get down and dirty with your hands!

Since we didn’t have access to a real grill, we fired up a George Foreman instead.

We’ve got to admit, for only about 15 minutes of prep time, these burgers pretty perfect.

Sicilian Turkey Burger patties!

One burger = less than 500 calories!

We landed on thespiked gingerade.

Never cooked with ginger before?

Think of it like a potato and get slicing.

Let the mixture simmer until the ginger edges brown.

This summer cocktail was unbelievable!

We were shocked that it was under 150 calories!

It was sweet and refreshing–just the thing we want to have in our hand this weekend.
