Just how lonely are millennials these days?

So are millennials a lonely generation or simply at a lonely stage in life?

Pew Research Center categorizes a millennial as anyone born between 1981 and 1996.

The little data we do have suggests younger adults are struggling.

In 2019, aviralsurveyby the market research firm YouGovfoundthat 3 in 10 millennials report theyre often or always lonely.

However, its unclear how these issues manifest in younger people.

Researchers also arent sure if loneliness early in life can contribute to health issues as people age.

But in the absence of evidence, the marketplace is offering up solutions.

Haven needed a common purpose, and company leadership chose health and wellness.

Many co-living spaces fit under this green-juice-and-healing-crystal umbrella.

Each house has a community manager, and each region has its own events manager.

Together they plan approximately 18 to 20 activities a month for residents.

Popular events include group excursions to indoor cycling class, in-house yoga, and tarot card readings.

Haven also offers wellness-themed programming.

But it goes one step further in only accepting members who have a demonstrated interest in health and fitness.

Can wellness-y co-living spaces actually help people feel less lonely?

One of the things that foster developing relationships is having similar interests, he says.

By giving residents the chance to bond, co-living spaces like Haven really can facilitate new friendships.

Im a big fan, she adds.

But it can go wrong.

It all comes down to the fit, Kissen says.

Its either interesting or exciting or it sounds like hell.

Its a natural litmus test.

Dont just look at the pictures.

You really have to go and experience it, Kissen says.

Then you just have to go with your gut.
