Don’t miss her inspiring words of wisdom.

There really is no simple formula.

It is very easy to become consumed with your career.

But the truth is that there is so much more to life and balance is found within.

I am more than an athlete, more than a woman, more than someone who has overcome depression.

I have a purpose and therein is my balance. What is your secret to happiness and when are you happiest?

The key to my happiness is staying busy, helping others and exploring my creative side.

I’m the happiest when I’m smiling – which I do a lot of these days.

How do you make time for yourself?

Taking time for myself is very important.

I know if I don’t, I will ultimately explode.

Fitness is one of my coping mechanisms, so I work out two hours a day.

I also sit in silence for an hour every day which helps me get on course.

What keeps your grounded?

My friends, family and my focus.

I have so much love and support in my life.

I used to run away from it for so long and had a wall up.

As I’ve gone through my journey and gotten older, I’ve realized how important support is.

What is your healthiest habit?

I exercise six times a week and eat fairly healthy.

What’s your unhealthiest habit?

Let’s just say I have a weakness for Cherry Dump Cake from Whole Foods.

The employees at Whole Foods know me because I buy half the pan for the week.

What’s your go-to snack after a workout?

After a game is a different story, since I’m usually starving.

I tend to enjoy salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes.

How do you stay motivated to maintain a healthy life?

I lost the closest person to me, my grandmother June Holdsclaw, to a heart attack in 2002.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

From my grandmother, “Stay humble and use your talent to help others.”
