I mean like beaming smiles, adrenalized-before-during-and-after kind of fun.
I haven’t had that much fun doing a sporting activity since college.
Truly a celebration of life!
The run was around the lake.
I never doubted I could finish.
I rode my brakes and got through it.
Mostly gritting my teeth, but in the pics it looks like I’m smiling.
Finished fourth, two minutes after the third-place woman in my age group.
First USA finisher and definitely happy I broke 13 hours…by just over three minutes.
My time of 12:56 was something that mattered little.
I was happy to say it didn’t feel hard, just euphoric, life-affirming and fun.
And, yes, I am glad it’s over!
