When your core isnt engaged, you’re more likely to be smashing into the ground.
Alvino suggests doing this short workout immediately after you get back from a run.
This will put your muscles to the test in different ways, she explains.

Lift your hips up, then lower them back to the ground.
Continue for 1 minute.
Sit on the floor with your knees bent, feet lifted, and hands behind your head.

Keep your chest up and back straight as you lean back to engage your abs.
Twist to bring your right elbow to your left knee, straightening your right leg.
Keep your core tight and your hips lifted, and keep your neck in line with your spine.

Hold for 1 minute.
Start in a high plank.
Walk your hands together so that your thumbs and forefingers form a triangle.

Bend elbows to lower your torso toward the ground to do a complete push-up.
Start on your left side with your left elbow below your left shoulder and your feet stacked.
Lift your hips into the air.

Keep your right knee on the floor for balance if needed.
Continue to press hips up while keeping your core tight.
Hold for 1 minute, and repeat on the other side the second time you do this exercise.
