Perfect Gear
For dry canyons I lovePrana’s Halle pants.
They’re super comfy, cute, stretch, and can stand up to sliding around on rocks.
For tank tops I swear byLululemon’s Cool racerback tanks.
They withstand a significant amount of abuse and keep their elasticity.
For wet canyons I loveTeeki’s hot pants.
For super cold canyons I layer them under my wetsuit.
For canyons that are wet but not too cold I really likePrana’s new wetsuit line.
Even in the heat of summer canyons can be cold at their darkest depths.
You also never know when you’ll have a surprise overnight stay in a canyon.
I always bring my Patagonia Nano-Puff Down jacket as a backup warm layer.
It packs down to the size of a nalgene and is nice and toasty when you need it.
Left, from left: Prana Halle pants; Lululemon tank; Teeki hot pants.
I attempt to put only non-fragranced quality organic products on my skin that I can pronounce.
I think of it as a little thank you to my feet for carrying me on my adventures.
Both nourish and protect my skin from the sun, aridity, heat and water.
My absolute favorite lip balm is Aveda’s Lip Saver.
It lasts and protects my lips like no other.
I usually make 4-5 at a time and there’s my breakfast for the week.
It’s a twist on a Tone It Up recipe (I love those gals!)
The next morning, give it another shake and put in your favorite fruit.
My favorite combo is banana and blackberries or blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.
I really hate canyoneering without my gloves, it’s more of a sentimental thing.
My Mantra
When things get hard I ask myself “What do you really want?”
I’ve never regretted a canyon adventure.
I learn something about myself, nature, and canyoneering every time.
