The nonprofitOldwayscelebrates May as National Mediterranean Diet Month to encourage this healthy eating plan.
I’m a fan of this pyramid and it is a good reflection of how I tend to eat.
I included some photos from my wedding anniversary trip to Italy, a country bordering on the Mediterranean.
Here’s an inside look.
Physical activity and enjoying meals with others sits at the wide base of this pyramid.
Exercise helps burn off calories (and stress!).
Choose those lowest in mercury and PCBs, and ideally those that are ecologically sustainable.
“Drink water” hangs out on the pyramid next to seafood - an excellent tip.
You’ll also find a well-stocked drawer of yogurt in my fridge.
Wine sipped in moderation shows up next to seafood.
I love this message.
As for sweets, I say go for quality over quantity for maximum gratification.
Most importantly, savor and enjoy every bite.
How does your eating style compare?
