I love to start my days with a hearty bowl (my recipe, below!)

filled with homemade granola, goji berries and non-fat Greek yogurt.

My trainer comes to the house to lead me through a mix of balance and strength-based exercises.

Afterwards, I go to the pool to work out with our family friend, pro surfer Laird Hamilton.

We jump in the water with weights and do underwater stair climbs.

These help improve my strength and train me to hold my breath for longer periods of time.

Here’s how I make it:

Creamy Beet Hummus

Makes about 4 servings

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Wrap beets in foil and cook for 30 minutes.

Run cooked beets under cold water and, when cool, slip skins off with your fingers.

Place beets and chickpeas in food processor and mix.

Add salt, tahini, lemon, vinegar and water.

Plus, its nice and light, so it wont weigh you down the rest of the day.

Cilantro Lime Dressing

Blend all ingredients except the olive oil in a food processor or blender.

Drizzle in the olive oil afterwards.

I drink about 15 glasses of water every day to keep myself hydrated.

My house is full of jars ofMylkman Rawcoconut water, a great local brand here in L.A. County.

For dinner, I’ll make this chickpea quinoa bowl for two and share it with my sister.

Mix in the remaining ingredients and, for a non-vegan option, add feta cheese.
