As any#fitspo Instagramenthusiast knows, lifting videos arent exactly rare finds.

But then theres Lindsay Hiltons footage of her box squat, filmed at CrossFit OnSide in Halifax, Canada.

Cue the respect for that ab work.

Hiltons fitness adventure began long before her CrossFit Instagram moment.

Shes still deeply involved in the rugby scene, playing regularly for a Halifax team.

I learned to walk, I played, I joined sports teams, I learned to drive.

Ive never thought that things were harder for me, theyre just different.

Then CrossFit OnSide opened, and held a contest for who could do the mostburpeesin a minute.

Hilton won, got a free month of membership, and now goes four times a week.

CrossFit has a similar vibe to rugby, which is that youre on a team, she says.

That appealed to me right away.

Youre all there, doing the same workout, even though everyone might be adapting differently.

They ended up making ample use of common fitness gear like powerlifting hooks and wrist straps.

She feels like its easier to get a sense of progress without them.

At this point, theres no CrossFit exercise she cant do.

The bottom line is that everyone is created differently, says Jeffrey.

I think thats forgotten at a lot of places.

To call me inspiring is to set me apart in some way, like Im not normal.

But I can do everything you’re free to, I just do it without arms and legs.

That feeling can be exacerbated at some types of fitness facilities that rely onexercise machines, adds Jeffrey.

If you dont fit properly in the seat or cant modify, youre far more likely to feel discouraged.

Thats why finding a more customized workout, like they do at CrossFit, can be a game changer.

I believe you have to keep an open mind, Hilton says.

Just try, and if it doesnt work, then okay.

But at least you know youve tried.

I think thats advice that works for anybody.
