Like many 22-year-olds, British woman Rebecca Dann decided to tryonline dating.

Dann had been diagnosed withscoliosisa condition where the spine bends abnormally to one sidewhen she was 4.

Most children with scoliosis don’t require treatment, because the bend corrects itself as the child grows.

That was not the case with Dann.

Complications of scoliosis include chronic pain, respiratory ailments, and decreased ability toexercise.

“But I was wrong.

Guys [I would speak to for months] would startghosting me.”

“They think I’ll break if they touch me.

They see a wheelchair and they think it means I can’t speak.”

Dann wanted to challenge conceptions about differently abled people by evoking a sense ofsexuality and strengthin her work.

And that, she did.

Dann took topless photos of herself and covered herself in body paint until she looked like a statue.
