What advice would you give someone who is seeking out LGBTQ+ support and friendship?

Suzette Mullen:Queer community saved my life, and I dont know where Id be without it.

For in-person support, most cities have LGBTQ+ centers that provide support groups and resources.

Depending on where you live, it may take some work to find support, but dont give up.

This isnt a journey to do alone.

And there is no one right way to navigate this life-altering revelation.

You will know if and when its time for you to come out.

Its tough getting through to the other side, but remember, theres joy waiting for you there.

Which reminds me to mention: Authenticity isnt a one-and-done experience; its an ongoing journey.

Dont waste it by living a life that isnt truly your own.

And for those who wont embrace the true you?

They arent your people.

This is your one wild and precious life.

What were some of your biggest fears related to coming out?

People called me brave, but I felt terrified.

But ultimately, I didnt give over my agency to fear and doubt.

I didnt let fear stop me from taking a first step and another and another.

Friends took me in.

Unexpected possibilities opened up.

All part of a bigger mystery and evidence to me that I was on the right path.

How are you embracing queer joy this Pride Month?

That its never too late for a new beginning.
