you could only have a few “starters"or friends who you know you could heavily rely on.
You have a few friends who sit on “the bench” who you don’t see as frequently.
And that’s your metaphorical friend “lineup.”
you might start by saying, “Hey, I realize I haven’t been as available lately.
I’m really caught up with [insert thing here], but I really value our friendship.
How can we fix this?”
I’m so glad to see you flourishing, but I miss spending time with you.
Do you have any ideas for how we can strike a better balance?”
Instead, he says, you should focus on maximizing your emotional safety.
You don’t owe them an explanation."
Instead, it’s probably an indication that you’re experiencing a lot of necessary and wonderful personal growth.
In other words, it’s nothing to worry about.
Just do whatmakes you the happiest, most comfortable, and most fulfilled.
